Young Art Cardiff is a new competition open to all schools in Cardiff, for children from Reception up to Year 13. It is an exciting way to encourage children to enhance their creativity and give them the opportunity of having their work judged by local artists and exhibited in a public venue. The event will also raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Each child will be asked to submit a picture based on the theme of “My World”. The winners in each age category will be chosen by a panel of local artists. The winning artworks, together with artworks that have been selected for hanging, will be displayed in an exhibition held at the Cardiff School of Art and Design at the Cardiff Metropolitan University from Monday 2nd March to Friday 6th March 2020. Non-selected work will also be shown in a slideshow at the exhibition. Friends and family will be able to attend a private open evening on 3rd March after which the exhibition will be open to the general public.
Each painting will be available to buy via a silent auction with the artist’s family being given priority so that they will have the first opportunity to purchase their child’s artwork.
Each child will be asked to donate £2 to Cancer Research UK to enter and every participating school will be represented at the exhibition. Please see the Rules for more information.
It is hoped that with your support, Young Art Cardiff will become an annual event.
